"THASP has made a significant impact upon our staff and children’s well-being. It is a positive, supportive approach that has empowered our staff and children with practical tools to begin to understand their emotions, build their resilience and begin to reflect upon the choices that they make, which will continue to grow and support them in their future."
"Our THASP journey has seen our staff quickly revitalised and enthused and our children better equipped to navigate the increasing complexities of life. Both staff and pupils are now more resilient and empowered. It is wonderful to hear children use THASP language and tools to handle tricky situations. We are more equipped, as a school and individuals, to meet the daily challenges head on."
"THASP has had a hugely positive impact on our whole school community. Staff and children have developed a clearer understanding of themselves and have learned strategies to be their “best selves”. THASP allowed us to move away from extrinsic motivators and promote children’s intrinsic drive, meaning that they develop a real understanding and insight into themselves and the people around them."
Hi, I’m Christina, founder of The Happy at School Project (THASP). I wear many hats: mum of two boys, former teacher of 25 years, educational consultant and certified life coach. My passion for making homes happier stems from my own bumpy start in life. As a teacher and mum, I was fascinated by how we could build a child’s identity, self-esteem and self belief to fully reach their potential, while immunising them against serious mental health issues. This led me to positive psychology, neuroscience, personal development, coaching and neurodiversity research.
I created a positivity and mindset programme for staff, pupils, parents and carers at my school. Its success led to speaking at conferences, teaching universities and training other schools in the UK and abroad. During this time, I trained as a life coach and discovered my talent for coaching children, teens, parents and whole school staff. Word spread and I began working with more headteachers. Empowering key influencers, their parents, teachers and caregivers, is crucial because their words and responses have such power. By being the best versions of ourselves, we can better support and guide children to become their best selves.

THASP takes a holistic approach to elevate your school culture. It starts with a detailed analysis of your current position and goals followed by a ‘weather walk’, workshops and ongoing consultancy for maximum long-term impact. This can include coaching sessions for pupils and staff, pupil assemblies, working with SLT, pastoral teams, office staff and parent workshops. It provides a common language, an easy-to-use coaching toolkit, printable display resources and a layered approach to embedding key messages and skills. THASP ensures sustained and continually developed positive change.
Staff embark on a journey of self-discovery, experiencing THASP’s benefits first hand. They gain self-awareness and new perspectives on themselves, each other, the world and their pupils. This improves relationships, both personal and professional, as staff become more open, courageous and aware of how to empower themselves and pupils. THASP boosts positivity, enhances communication skills and equips staff to become more resilient. Embracing THASP coaching principles, staff gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to embed these practices with pupils, leading to lasting, positive changes throughout your school.
Pupils will learn how to be their best selves, harnessing the power of their thoughts and gaining a common language. They’ll be guided by staff to use tools for a more positive outlook, improve relationships, develop intrinsic motivation and deepen self-belief. Through a coaching approach they will embrace mistakes and challenges with a new mindset. They’ll learn strategies to handle tricky situations and protect their mental health. More resilient and proactive, pupils will feel increasingly comfortable in their own skin, emotionally regulate faster, have greater mental fitness for life and achieve higher attainment.
Parents will become even more self-aware of the impact of their words and actions, learning alongside their children. Through THASP, they’ll acquire tools and common phrases that foster better understanding and communication at home and at school. This shared language strengthens the bond between child and parent and equips parents with effective strategies. Staff, confident in using THASP’s tools, language and visuals, will better support and empower parents. As THASP is straightforward and easy to grasp, it equips parents to guide their children more confidently today and for the future.
